Mrs Kush: 10 Things I Did to Lose 5 Kg

Let me start by saying I’ve never been skinny in my life. Add the fact that I’m a food lover and you’ll get a picture of the state of things.
Having said that I’ve never been obese either. I’m sharing these details because if your situation is different from mine and you decide to do these things you might end up with different results.
The routine I adopted was largely shaped by my personality. I’m a social introvert. I love and prefer my own company, but I can do extremely well in social situations and it’ll be difficult for you to detect that I’d rather be in bed than spend time talking to you.
Starve yourself
Yes! I starved myself. Let me explain. Most people eat 2 – 4 slices of bread at breakfast. I can eat on average 6 – 8. That’s 600 – 900 calories minus “accessories”. I had to cut that down drastically and I starved! The feeling of starvation didn’t last too long. After about a month my body adjusted. If like me, you’re already used to over eating you have no choice in this matter. And to those that say bulk with veggies, abegi! You can’t get the same satisfaction from cucumber that you get from fried Chicken. #justsaying. Ps. I did bulk with veggies it just wasn’t the same.
You need to workout
At first, I didn’t work out because I was not in the mood. I lost 200g the first week and 700g the next. That wasn’t cutting it for me. I had to dust my running shoes and hit the streets to speed things up.
Workout alone
This is where my personality comes in. I tried to workout in a group, but it didn’t work out (see what I did there!) I discovered that I did better alone because I could wake up in the morning, get dressed and be on the road in 5 minutes. No phone calls, no logistics and no need to explain to people when I was not in the mood. Shout out to all the joggers I met on the road with face beat, smelling of perfume, they definitely needed more than 5 minutes!
Power walking > Intermittent Jogging
I discovered that when I was low on motivation to jog it was because I was dreading the stress. I used the Nike app to track my workout and one day when I power walked, I burned more calories than when I jogged intermittently. This was because after jogging for 1 mile, I’d walk for another mile slowly to recover which averaged out to a slower pace. I did an average of 10 miles a week in the beginning and increased to about 15 miles a week. I have built strength and endurance over the weeks and can jog for much longer now. Besides, I like to jog past people on the road to feel superior (I’m not perfect).
If you’re a foodie, please cheat on your diet
I went cold turkey the first two weeks and I ended up eating a whole Pizza, Chicken wings, Chocolate cake, Semo and Banga etc, etc in one weekend! All the deprivation made me crave junk even more. Now I cheat steady, but with sense. If I eat a bit more than I should I make sure I don’t miss the next morning’s workout. Most importantly, I try to have more good days than bad #balance.

Meal prep
My progress was slow because I often didn’t meal prep and I ended up eating things I’d have preferred not to. If electricity permits, make healthy meals that’ll last you a few days to a week and freeze. It could be the difference between having junk and a healthy meal when you’re hungry.

Eat lots of Oatmeal
This might be just me, but I found that having Oatmeal (made from 70-100g of dry Oats) kept me full for longer. I tried to replicate this with Granola and other fiber rich foods but couldn’t. If any one understands the reason, please explain in the comments.
Weigh your food
I really didn’t weigh my food much to be honest because I work with food and can guess food weights relatively well. However, if you ask most people to measure a 100g of Rice for example they’ll often end up with double. It’s important to weigh your food so that you don’t over eat. Once you get a hang of what quantities are like, you can start estimating. Invest in a kitchen scale; it’s so worth it. And on that note, cups are NOT a good substitute. My measurement of one cup can be up to 50% more than yours.

Drink lots of water
I often started my day with cucumber and lemon water. The cucumber and lemon were there purely for flavour. I was able to drink more water during the day when I added them than when I didn’t. It goes without saying that drinking lots keeps your stomach full. (Side effect: you pee a lot!)
Be patient
Not everyone will lose 10kg in 1 week. Even if you’re not losing weight initially, the fact that you’re not gaining weight is a sign that what you’re doing is working. Just push further and don’t get discouraged. The results will come.
BONUS – Count it all Joy
During this period, I was under a lot of pressure at work. There was an event we were catering to, that required us to supply Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We were at work very early to get the Breakfast sorted, went to the client’s site to serve and rushed back to sort out lunch. The same thing during dinner. Some of the days I had to leave my colleagues to get groceries coupled with having to climb the staircase, because there was no lift.
Ordinarily, I’d be frustrated but all I could think of was the calories I was burning!
At another time, the fan of my car AC started “touching” which meant it stopped when I got into heavy traffic and I had to turn it off to stop the car from overheating. I was too busy to drop the car with the mechanic, so whenever I got into traffic I’d sweat like a pig.
In the past I’d be lifting my eyes to the hill from whence cometh my help but this time I was thinking of all the calories I was burning, and my heart was filled with gratitude!
In total it took me about 9 weeks to lose 5kg. I’m happy with my weight now but I’m trying to lose 5kg more. I took a Christmas break which has been extended to Valentine! Fingers crossed I can get it done in a shorter time. My starting weight was 77kg at last weigh in I was 72.4kg.
Mrs Kush
Ps.
I still have my “food expert’s waistline”. Father Lord please send angels to snatch my waist. I have tried! ðŸ˜©

Buhari Has Created 12 Million Jobs In Agric Sector Alone – Lai Mohammed

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, in this interview debunked the allegation of non-performance leveled against the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
He also spoke on efforts by the government to find a lasting solution to farmers, herdsmen clashes and other issues.
The four- year mandate given to this government by Nigerians is gradually coming to an end. Has your party fulfilled its electoral promises to the people?
We were very categorical that we were going to address three areas of governance: we are going to fight corruption, we are going to fight insecurity, and we are going to revamp the economy.
I can say with all sense of modesty that we can beat our chest that we have delivered in all those areas.
On the economy, a former CBN Deputy Governor, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu disagreed with your government’s claim that we have exited recession. What is your take on that?
I would rather work on the figure of the National Bureau of Statistics because their indices and parameters for the country show that we are out of recession.
Even as recently as last week, the NBS came out that for the 11th month we have been able to hold down inflation, that inflation today is 15.37 per cent.
This has been happening since January 2017. All indications show that not only have we exited recession, but that we are making a lot of gains in all the parameters either in the areas of foreign reserves or foreign investment or the area of inflation or job creation.
Whatever Moghalu has said would run against the current of the figures that had been produced by the NBS which is the best body today that can tell us whether we are out of recession or not. It is the same body that told us we were in recession is the same body that said we are out of recession. So far, they are yet to tell us we have slipped back to recession.
Boko Haram insurgents appear to have regrouped after some progress in that front, while Fulani herdsmen-farmers clashes also threaten the security of the nation. Are you not troubled?
Security is an issue that every nation at one point in time will have to contend with. I am happy you have acknowledged that we are making progress fighting insecurity in the country.
The herdsmen-farmers clash was not invented by this government. It actually predates this government. If you go back to history, it dates back to independence.
But I am assuring you that this government is determined to resolve the issue. This government is determined to take specific steps to find a definite end to this issue.
It is about containment, it is about accommodation, and it is about understanding. There must be farmers; there must be herdsmen. They must live together.
We are determined as a government that shedding of the blood of just one person is too much. It is not about the number; it is about the fact that we put a price on human’s life.
I am glad that already things are being put in place, such as the committee headed by the Vice President to find long time solution to herdsmen-farmers clashes.
There is the claim that the attacks were not perpetrated by herdsmen but by foreign Fulani bandits. Are the security agencies so weak that they cannot fish out these bandits and stop them from entering this country?
Without going into the details, it is a very complex issue. You talked about bandits, what about the militias that were funded and sponsored by the late Ghadafi around the same area?
As a government, we have resolved to find a lasting solution to it. Whether they are bandits or marauders or militias sponsored by the late Ghadafi, what is important for us as a government is to ensure that the shedding of blood whether of the farmers or herdsmen is brought to an end.

Why is fuel scarcity back? Are we also paying subsidy for fuel?

The fuel situation is much better than it was before now. As for subsidy, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources has said a lot of about subsidy. I don’t think it is possible not to pay the subsidy in the circumstance.
One of the ardent supporters of this administration, Pastor Tunde Bakare recently said that this government has failed in the three areas you mentioned earlier. How do you counter that?
We are very confident. We don’t have any apologies for our success. Our success is out there. I said earlier that there were many indices with which you can measure whether a country is improving economically or not.
I am glad to say that not only have we grown our foreign reserves from $23billion to $40 billion despite the fact that for the larger part of the time oil sold for $30 per barrel.
This clearly does not indicate failure on the part of the government. Again, NBS said headline inflation has fallen for 11 consecutive months. It is now at 15.37 per cent as at December 2017. The target we set for ourselves by the ERGP for inflation has been met and surpassed. You can’t talk about failure.
We were even able to eliminate ghost workers, and that has saved us over N120 billion. We have been able to save about N108 billion from the removal of maintenance fees payable to banks pre-TSA because we pay directly. We have saved N24.7billion monthly through determined implementation of TSA.
In agriculture, we have created an extra 6.2 million jobs. From 6 million jobs two and a half years jobs, today we have about 12.2 million jobs in agricultural sector alone.
How can anyone claim that we have not succeeded in creating jobs? Our strategy in the area of encouraging local production of rice has worked. From 64,000 metric tonnes a year two and half a years ago, today we import less than 20,000 metric tonnes.
You can imagine the kind of saving that would bring to government. In the area of infrastructure, we also have good news. Power today is at an all high of 7000 MW, and we are also able to transmit 7000 MW.
In the area of distribution, we distribute over 5000 MW today and the extra 2000 MW which we cannot distribute we are trying to get willing buyers for these MW.
Still, on the infrastructure, the Lagos-Kano modern gauge is on course. We are very optimistic that by 2019 Lagos-Ibadan axis of it will be commissioned while the Kano-Kaduna modern gauge will also be ready by 2019.

What Was Found Inside A Blackberry Playbook Charger (Photos)

I have been hearing people recommending playbook charger for andriod user even on major blogs, infact i got one for my sister which she is still using up till now.
Like three days ago i bought a bb playbook charger from one reputable stores in ibadan, to my surprise the charger stopped working the third day.
I was unable to return the charger because am leaving in a far distance to where it was purchased. i later concluded on opening the charger to know what caused it and to my surprise i found a well trimmed and cut iron, patiently placed besides the charger transformer to add to the weight of the charger.
As for people like me, am a fan of heavy weight charger and powerbank because i believe all their cells are complete. I wonder when this so called chinco people will stop this their deceit on us

‘100 Buharis’ Can’t Do Anything’- Soldier Brags After Damaging Car In Lagos (Photo)

A yet to be identified Nigerian soldier identified as Umar who was caught on camera after he damaged a car in Aje area of Lagos, bragged about being untouchable after the said act.
Twitter user @HayeslikeIssac whose car he damaged tweeted;
“Just got attacked and my vehicle damaged in Aje Street by Officer Umar who took One way and refused to move. He said and I quote “100 Buhari’s cannot do anything to him. Who are you…who do you know.”
Recall that a Nigerian soldier was also accused in November 2017, of assaulting a man in Ikorodu area of Lagos.
It was gathered that a disagreement between the girlfriend of a military officer and Saheed, the younger brother of an electronics dealer in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, Lukman Lambo, left him with an injury and a need to undergo a surgery to regain the use of his left eye after he got chained to a motorcycle and got dragged him on the street by soldiers.
Punch reported that Saheed and the lady, identified simply as Dasola, who were lovers and neighbours at Itulubajo Lane, Alhaji Street, Ikorodu, until few weeks ago when they had a money disagreement which strained their relationship.
However their fight started after they went to watch a clash between some residents which occurred around 11am on Saturday, November 11, in the house where Saheed lives and Dasola. It was gathered that Saheed, rebuked the said lady for poking her nose into a situation that did not concern her.
At about 5pm on that day, Dasola reportedly led her soldier boyfriend in company with three other soldiers to Saheed’s residence.
The soldiers who didn’t meet Saheed at home, rained blows on Saheed’s elder brother Lukman’s face, handcuffed him to a motorcycle, rode the bike and dragged him on the street. Lukman was left by the soldiers after blood started coming out from his eyes.

Copa Del Rey! Coutinho Makes Debut As Barcelona Beat Espanyol 2-0 (SEE)

Philippe Coutinho made his debut for Barcelona as they beat Espanyol to reach the Spanish Cup semi-finals.
The £142m signing from Liverpool came on with 22 minutes to play, by which time Barca were already 2-0 up in reply to last week’s 1-0 first-leg defeat.
Coutinho might have had an assist were it not for Pau Lopez’s fine save from Luis Suarez, who earlier headed Barca’s opener against their city rivals.
Lionel Messi got the decisive second with Barca’s 4,000th Nou Camp goal.
The Argentina forward’s deflected shot wrong-footed Lopez in the 25th minute, and he almost added a second in the game’s closing stages with a thumping header that struck the post from Ivan Rakitic’s destructive cross.
An Espanyol strike would have sent Quique Sanchez Flores’ side through on the away goals rule, and Gerard Moreno had a penalty shout turned down in the 81st minute.
Moreno appeared to be about to connect with a cross on the counter attack – he only had the goalkeeper to beat – when he went down in the box under apparent pressure from Jordi Alba behind him, but the referee waved his appeal away.
Sevilla, Valencia and Leganes – who knocked out Real Madrid on Wednesday – are the other teams in the last four.
Before kick-off, Argentina defender Javier Mascherano walked out onto the pitch to say his goodbyes, having completed a move to Chinese Super League club Hebei China Fortune.
The 33-year-old former West Ham and Liverpool player spent eight years at Barca, winning 18 trophies including four La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues.

I have questioned my fears when i looked back at our history, as a people and the many opportunities that has been denied the youths of my generation. The youths of today are grieving everyday, because so much has been taken away from them.
They have been denied the right to good life, quality education, freedom, justice, sustainable means of livelihood and above all, the freedom to leadership.
These opportunities were given in the past, remarkably many great Nigerians including your humble self, enjoyed the very best from our great country. How come my generation has been short changed and left in dissolution and uncertainty?
