The Chairman of Innoson motors, Innocent Chukwuma, who had a faceoff with the EFCC last week, has said that his arrest and detention by the antigraft agency had no ethnic or tribal undertone. 

Speaking with newmen at his hometown in Nnewi, Anambra state yesterday Saturday December 23rd, the automobile company chairman, said EFCC arrested him because of his faceoff with GT bank over the ''illegal'' deduction of N400 million from his account for over 11 years. He said immediately he found out about the deductions, he consulted an auditor who tabulated the correct amount which the bank agreed to refund but later reneged.

To ensure that the bank pays him his money, he filed a lawsuit against them at the High Court and Court of Appeal where he won.

He said he was surprised that the bank could involve the EFCC to arrest him even when they were the one in debt.

He thanked President Buhari, Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, some Igwes, Emirs and Obas and other notable personalities and groups across the country for intervening while he was in EFCC custody.

21-year-old lady commits suicide after her boyfriend of 4 years broke up with her over the phone

A 21-year-old lady identified as Tawa Oshunuga allegedly committed suicide after her boyfriend of 4 years broke up with her over the phone.

According to eyewitnesses, Tawa, who was a makeup artist died on Monday less than 24 hours after she returned from spending the weekend with her boyfriend.

She was in the company of her friend when her man called, she excused herself to answer and nobody can tell what exactly happened after the phone call

The next news people heard was that Oshunuga bought a Snipper, a local insecticide, drank it and died.

It is reported that she called her mom who sells pepper at Alarape Market and asked to come home that she was going through excruciating stomach pain.

Speaking to News Telegraphy Tawa's friend said

“Tawa was with her boyfriend throughout Saturday and Sunday. When she returned from her guy’s place on Sunday, she didn’t go straight home. She came to play with us. We joked with her that she had gone to satisfy herself. We told her to go home and see her mother. Her mother had already come to ask her from us. The mother knew we were close friends in the community. But we didn’t tell her that Tawa went to her boyfriend’s house. The mother needed Tawa on that Sunday to assist her in the market. We gathered that when she got home, her mother was already in the market. It was after she drank the snipper that she called her mother to come home quickly. She told her mother she was feeling serious stomach pains.
“When her mother got home, Tawa was on the floor, writhing in pains. The mother immediately called some of their neighbours and they rushed her to a private hospital.”

Another friend, who identified herself simply as Jummy said: “It was in the process of trying to take her to hospital, they discovered a bottle of snipper beside her. It was then people realized that she poisoned herself. At the hospital, doctor referred her to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. That was how we lost our friend.”

The incident was reported at the Alade Police Station, Somolu, Lagos, after she was brought back from the hospital. She was buried at Atan cemetery.

Mum dies of a broken heart after losing son, 10, and granddad days apart

A woman reportedly died of a broken heart this week after losing her 10-year-old son and her granddad just days apart.

Ashley Tomlin, 32, suffered a ruptured heart artery and could not be saved by paramedics. Ashley died in the early hours of Monday morning while at home with mum Jill Tomlin. 

Ms Tomlin’s dad Keith, 59 says his daughter "died of a broken heart" after losing her grandfather, James Tomlin, just a day before her son Jak died.  Jak passed away on November 6, just hours after complaining of chest pains. He died of a ruptured heart artery also, just like his mother.

Keith spoke of the night his daughter spent with her mother before she died, saying: "They had a quiet night in and it got to about midnight, when Ashley went to the bathroom. Jill heard a noise and when she went in, she found Ashley having a seizure. The paramedics couldn’t bring her round. They think it was a massive heart attack, but I have my first meeting with the coroner and he told me he wishes they could put ‘broken heart’ on the death certificate, because that is basically what it was."

After Jak’s death, housewife Ashley described her son as "perfect in every way". Ashley's family are trying to come to terms with a third unimaginable loss in just one month.

Today, President Buhari said that current changes to trade and investment policies by the government since it took office in May 2015 will help the nation to diversify the economy, attract more foreign investments and speed up the country’s industrialization.

Speaking at the commissioning of two newly-established agro-based industries, shortly before he ended his highly successful two-day State Visit to Kano, the President noted that the overall effect of these achievements will lead to jobs creation and better living conditions for citizens as promised by the governing All Progressives Congress, APC.

At the newly-built 1,200 tonnes capacity solvent extraction plant of Gerawa Oil Mills Limited, the biggest oil mill plant in West Africa, located at Tokarawa Industrial Estate, President Buhari commended the plant owner for taking full advantage of the prevailing investment climate in the country.

The President also commissioned and inspected the Fullmark Rice Mills, the biggest rice mill in West Africa, at Kwanar Gunduwawa, Hadejia road. At both mills, President Buhari while touring the facilities, expressed delight at the wholly-owned indigenous companies and assured agro-investors of his administration’s commitment to creating the right policies for agriculture to thrive.

At the solvent extraction plant of Gerawa Oil Mills, the Chairman of the company, Alhaji Isa Gerawa commended the policies of the Buhari administration on agriculture, describing them as key to Nigeria’s exit from recession and upward attainment to food security.

The industrialist, however, appealed to President Buhari to urgently address the issue of poor access to finance for farmers and agro-investors in the country.

The President, who was accompanied to Daura, his hometown by Governors Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano and Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa, was received on the border between Jigawa and Katsina States by Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina and the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk. The condition of the weather necessitated the trip to Daura by road.

Update: Burna Boy's court case adjourned till Tuesday, December 12th

Last week, Burna Boy was not present in court and the armed robbery case brought against him, his manager and 3 others by the Lagos State commissioner f Police was adjourned till Friday, December 8, 2017

Today however, the court didn't seat, the judge wasn't present as police came to the magistrate court Ikeja with two of the suspects in custody and shortly after, it was announced that the case had been adjourned till Tuesday, December 12, 2017.

We are glad that he has realized the lies and deceit of his former Party - PDP issues statement on Atiku's return

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has issued an official statement on the return of Atiku Abubarkar to the party from the ruling APC.

In the statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the party said, 'the return of the former Vice President @atiku to our great Party the @OfficialPDPNig is a welcome development. We are glad that he has realized the unbridled lies/deceit of his fomer Party, @APCNigeria. Again, we call on all our members still in APC to return home'.
